If you are cooking up spaghetti bolognaise for the family, why not make sure the furry family member has some too?
What to stuff
This is best used with a kong or similar as it will ooze out of anything which is open at both ends.
Ingredients
- Minced beef
- Chopped tomatoes (canned or fresh)
- Grated carrot, plus a 5cm/2inch chunk of carrot about the same diameter as your kong’s large hole
- Sunflower oil
How to stuff it
Using the sunflower oil, fry the beef until well cooked, then add the grated carrot and tomatoes. Continue to fry until most of the juices have evaporated then set aside to cool until it is just warm. Once cooled, stuff it in the kong and wedge the carrot in the large hole, then give to your dog with a cheery ‘Buon Appetito’!
Tips
The bolognaise may well ooze out of the small hole and, when the kong is unplugged (ie your dog’s chewed out the large chunk of carrot) the bolognaise will follow pretty quickly, so make sure you give this to your dog somewhere easily cleanable, or outside!
If you make a large batch, you can always freeze the bolognaise in kong sized portions. Defrost it well, reheat, allow to cool and serve on the same day.
